Celebrate Elvis’ Birthday this Weekend with Special Tribute Show and Buffet

This weekend marks Elvis’ birthday. Since Las Vegas is the King’s second home there of course has to be a tribute party.

This year it is at the Cannery Casino. Not only will there be a concert, you can also take the family down to enjoy an Elvis themed buffet!

From the official release:

The Cannery Casino & Hotel is bringing back the ever-popular “A Celebration of the King’s Life.” With special performances by Johnny Fortuno, The Stamps Quartet as well as close friends and co-stars of the late Elvis Presley, this is a great way to commemorate Elvis’ Birthday weekend. The concert will take place on Friday, January 7 and Saturday, January 8 and begins at 8 p.m. at The Club inside Cannery Casino & Hotel. Admission is just $10 at the door.

The Cannery Row Buffet will also participate in the celebration with a special section featuring all of Elvis’ favorite foods. Fans can dine on deep fried pickles, southern fried chicken, smothered pork chops, collard greens, green bean casserole, ham hocks, and potato & cheese soup. Other activities taking place throughout the weekend will include memorabilia and fan club displays.

Fortuno has a high energy and stage presence that makes all of his live performances electrifying. He has been praised by celebrities and critics a like as one of the top Elvis Presley tribute artists. His tribute to the king will take audiences back to the “Viva Las Vegas” years and will leave Elvis fans wanting more. Fortuno will perform many of Elvis’ hits including, “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Suspicious Minds” and “In The Ghetto.”

The Stamps Quartet, a gospel group that had the privilege of performing with Elvis regularly. They worked with him on numerous albums and sang back up in many of his concerts. Elvis even called The Stamps Quartet his favorite group of Gospel singers.

Other special guests will include Sonny West, Elvis’ personal friend and bodyguard; Cynthia Pepper, Elvis’ Kissin’ Cousins co-star; Darlene Tompkins, Elvis’ Blue Hawaii co-star; Steve Christopher, DJ with “Elvis on Air;” and other surprises.

We hear that “other surprises” include friend of the show Botielus (also known as SqueezeBox Hero our favorite music guest)

Excellent! Yes, it’ll be great Elvis fun! Note: I have our secret song setlist for the band available on request. As of now, we won’t be playing “heartbreak” and “ghetto”, but TONS of songs not played by most any other Elvis out there!!!! This is a goldmine in Elvis tunes you haven’t heard in a LONG time!!!!! I know, cause I’ve played with a lot of (great) Elvi in past few years 🙂 I didn’t know about the buffet! yum!!!!
